Hello fellow Craftybelles! I just wanted to share some of my favorite websites/blogs that have a wealth of ideas and inspiration for future projects--and many patterns for free!

Also, have you checked out Martha Stewart's 2 new Encyclopedias--one of Crafts and one of Sewing and Fabric Crafts? Excellent!
Oh my goodness, going through these will give me hours of fun! Thanks, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteMatha's books: have 'em. LOVE 'em. Thanks for the links: I know some of those, a few I've just recently explored (like the knit ones) and a few are new to me!
ReplyDeleteDon't even get me started on craft blogs. At one point I had 100+ blogs I was "subscribed" to via Google Reader. That way I didn't have to keep checking individual sites--just checked Google Reader and new posts from the sites I liked would automatically pop up. The problem was that I was getting addicted--and spending too much time online reading through all that "feed."
I've whittled it down somewhat. I get a daily email from CraftGossip that is a good summary of what's out there (easy to sign up for) and also rely on www.oneprettything.com for round-ups of the latest ideas. Other good "round-up" sources: "Whip Up" and "U-Create" (can't remember their URLs--just do a search for them).
I also adore www.sewmamasew.com--their handmade holidays series is the best! Janome (sewing machine company) has www.sew4home.com with great (almost) daily posts and fabulous, clear tutorials. I've made numerous things for our home from this site, and they really do a good job covering new fabric releases, too.
Other unique blogs I really enjoy: for style and sewing vintage-inspired clothes . . . Casey's Elegant Musings (http://blog.caseybrowndesigns.com/) and Sew Weekly (http://www.sewweekly.com/). I just love seeing the beautiful clothes people are sewing, and also am learning a lot about tailoring, fit, etc. through these sites. I also spend a lot of time on the cool burda pattern website (they have some great free patterns as well as downloadable patterns that are really inexpensive)--you can subscribe to weekly emails there as well. I'm making more and more things for myself to wear (STEEP learning curve) so I enjoy looking at these and other (clothes) sewing blogs when I have a chance.
A few other sweet sites: Aesthetic Nest (http://www.aestheticnest.com/)--sewing/knitting/crochet tutes and some of the most beautiful children I've ever seen. Also, The Crafty Crow is a fabulous site with daily posts of crafts to do with kids. Made by Joel (http://madebyjoel.blogspot.com/) also has tremendously hip crafts to do with kids--Joel is an artist, and all of his crafts have a very cool, modern vibe to them. There are lots of great printables there, too.
