To enhance preschool geography instruction, sew this:

In appreciation

Last year I found a great tutorial online to use for teacher appreciation week at the kids' school:
I made these once again this year since the kids both have different teachers and it wouldn't be a repeat gift. I decided to use jars we already had, and dressed them up with scrapbook paper, ribbon, and used red hots to help keep the "flowers" in place.

Hungry Caterpillar

I discovered this Eric Carle "Hungry Caterpillar" fabric and knew I had to make something with it. So I made this pillow and am planning to make a quilt for Jack. I envision him plopping down on the pillow to have a good read.

A Boy Who Loves Fabric

I'm keeping all my fabrics in a drawer that Jack can open, so he's gotten into taking them all out and playing with them. I just think it's so cute! (Until I have to pick them all up again. I gave up keeping them organized into categories for now.) When he wants to play with them, he says "fawbeeks?"

Made by me #3: Vogue 8580

Here's a top I finished a while back. About an hour after I finished it, I decided to wear it and then made lunch for the fam (turkey sandwiches with mayo). I looked down when I finished and got a nice blob of mayo on the lower portion of this which left a lovely grease spot. Moral: always wear an apron!

Made by me wardrobe #2: Simplicity 2360

Here's a dress I finished this week. I made it out of fabric I got on clearance last summer at Joann's for 99 cents a yard! The pattern cost $.99, too, so the whole dress only cost about $4. It's a great pattern--very versatile, and relatively easy to put together, although the ruffles were a little time-consuming.
